 The Surgery is open Monday to Friday 8am till 6:30pm.

The Countess of Chester has launched a new, enhanced phlebotomy booking service which can be accessed via their website. This new system will now allow patients to amend and cancel bookings. Appointments can be made at either the Countess or Stanley Lane blood clinic. Click here to book online.


York Road Welcomes New Partner to Practice – Dr Newton

As of  April 2021 Dr Charlotte Newton has replaced Dr Hodges as a Partner in the practice. Having trained and worked as a salaried GP Dr Newton is delighted and excited to take on this new challenge. Dr Newton is also the practice lead for Mental health and Learning disability register. The partner and all the staff at York Road wish her lots of luck in her new role.


COVID-19 Vaccination Programme

The practice has now completed first dose vaccines of all patients in cohort 1-9. We are currently completing patients second covid-19 vaccine at the Civic Hall. Your second appointment should have been made when you arrange your first vaccine. The appointment should be 12 weeks later and at the same time as your first vaccine.  You should receive a text message reminder a couple days prior to your appointment or contact the surgery and the admin team can let you know.

If you are aged 45 years or older and haven’t received any correspondence of  your covid-19 vaccine you can either call 119 or use this link to book online.

If you are worried about having your vaccine or have any concerns about receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine use this link to have a look information provided of the rarity of blood clots. Dr Hodges Retired December 2020

Dr Hodges has now retired from General Practice. His patient list is in the process of being transferred across to the remaining GPs in the Practice, this should not have an effect patient’s on-going care as our team work very closely together to provide the best care that they can to all our patients.

Patients will not need to complete any paper work at the Practice to be transferred onto the new GPs list. However, with patient choice you may decide to transfer to another Practice for your on-going care and you will need to complete registration forms to apply to be a patient on their list.  You will need to ask the new practice for the forms.

Dr Hodges has been a valuable member of the Practice Team for the past 20+ years and he will be missed by both colleagues and patients. We cannot thank him enough for his hard work and dedication to the Practice and we all wish him well in his retirement.

Dr Harrison has now replaced Dr Hodges.  Some patients may have met him previously when he was a GP registrar at the Practice.

eConsult is a set of online tools for you to check which service is right for your symptoms, get immediate self-help advice, find out what other services can help or send us an online consultation. It may help manage certain conditions without the need to attend the surgery in person.

Patient Access

We have a online software system in the practice that enables you to book appointments, order repeat prescriptions and view medical records. To be able to access this service you will need to contact the practice with two forms of identification and complete the registration form.

This service is open to all patients registered with our practice so if you don’t currently use this system you may wish to request access.

NHS APP

This app allows you to access a range of NHS services from a smart phone or tablet. You can also access the NHS app from the web browser on your desktop or laptop computer.

Extended Hours

If you work and cannot attend surgery during normal working hours you can book a pre-bookable appointment with either a GP or Nurse at Ellesmere Port Hospital from 6.30pm – 9.30pm Monday to Friday and Saturday & Sunday 9am-6pm & on Bank Holidays between 9am-2pm. (This is not for emergency, on the day, appointments & please remember to cancel any appointment you cannot attend.)
